My name is Christina Stokes, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Texas. There are many of names for the type of work I do, including counselor, psychotherapist, and just therapist. Regardless of the title, the job is the same.

I received my Master's in Social Work from the University of Chicago in 2005. Following graduation, I worked as a crisis counselor in inner city Chicago, managed a Women's Health Clinic at the University of Illinois at Chicago, was an individual and group therapist at two inpatient psychiatric facilities.

More recently I’ve worked in hospice, done contract therapy work at a high school in Austin, and co-founded a children's publishing company.

Along this path, I discovered that my true passion was counseling individuals one on one. I enjoy working with adults and seniors with a strength-based and client-centered approach which is tailored for each client. I have received training in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), and I am a certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

I am originally from Columbus, Ohio but I have moved a lot and have lived in Europe, and on both coasts of the United States before moving to Austin, TX, and finally to Georgetown which I am proud to call home. I live with my three children and husband of 12 years down a gravel road in the country. I enjoy being in nature, hanging out with my family, traveling and meeting new people.
